During the tough Saskatchewan winter months, it is easy to become socially isolated when the weather keeps you inside. As we get older or elderly the struggles and resources to continue to be physically active during the winter can become even more difficult.
Seniors that face socio-economic risk factors have a greater likelihood of social isolation. Support and good social relations are important to overall health and is shown by well documented connections between socio-economic status and health, well-being, and longer life.
Tai Chi and the walking program are currently being scheduled.

Hello, My name is Lindsey McInnes, and I am a personal trainer at the University of Saskatchewan through the Human Performance Center. I completed my B.Sc in Kinesiology with honours in 2019 with a major in Exercise and Sport Studies from the U of S. Once finishing my degree, I became a certified personal trainer through CSEP (Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology) and am currently working on my High-Performance Specialization. I grew up playing many sports including softball, volleyball, and dance but found my passion with baton twirling at the age of 9 and continued to twirl through my first year of university. I learnt a lot through all my time in sport and wanted to continue to help other find their passion through movement. Working as a trainer at the University allows me to continue to work with athletes and now help them achieve their goals and be the best version of themselves in and out of sport. I train people with a variety of backgrounds and go by the philosophy ‘you are never too old to move’. My goal is to help people continue to move throughout all stages of life and find joy in the process. In my spare time you can find walking my dog down by the river, up at the cabin or reading a good book. |
